From winning a commercial scriptwriting contest for Colgate Toothpaste at the age of 10 to becoming a veteran in the media industry, Cynthia Hougardy’s career is a testament to her lifelong interest in television and advertising. With a major in Journalism from Louisiana Tech University, complemented by minors in English and Marketing, Cynthia has worked for CBS Radio, Petry Television, FOX Television, a Post-Newsweek NBC affiliate, and, notably, has held three positions over two stints at KTBS. She started at KTBS in the newsroom as a Promotions Producer before moving to the Sales Department. After spending many years in Houston, she is delighted to have returned to KTBS in her current role as Client Success Manager, providing white glove service to our advertisers.
Cynthia’s sales philosophy starts with understanding a client’s products; their customers and business history; and then learning their goals and objectives. By fostering open communication, actively listening to clients, and providing value-driven recommendations, she demonstrates a genuine commitment to their goals.
By serving as an extra set of eyes on the sales team and for clients, Cynthia looks for patterns and trends in the data. Be it TV viewership or digital delivery details, she consumes media, watches all the shows, and uses different platforms to understand what’s happening in the industry. She’s interested in national business shifts and shares research on market analysis and dynamics.
When she’s not at the station, Cynthia loves watching television and rewinds the commercials! She and her husband have launched their children - one a college student and the other serving in the US Navy - so they now have more time to volunteer at the USO Centers, supporting military personnel, and fostering newborn kittens for the local animal shelter. She’s active in two book clubs and is the Pickleball Coordinator for her neighborhood.
